Due to flood damage at the Riverhouse from Irma in Vero Beach, the February 22nd meeting will be held at the Bethel Creek House, 4405 North A1A, across the street from the JayCee Park from 11 am to 1 pm and offer two one hour presentations of 1 LU/HSW each.
Presentation #1 Course Title:Maximizing Tile Installation with Trim Profiles
Course #1 Description:
Manufacturers produce a variety of beautiful and durable tiles, but the availability of coordinating trim pieces can be limited. This has led to the development of a wide range of trim profiles. This seminar will focus on how trim profiles improve the integrity of tile installations and increase the versatility of tile in various applications, including floors, walls, countertops, and more.

1.Identify tile trim profiles and understand their basic design and function.
2.Understand how to incorporate trim profiles into specific ceramic tile and dimension stone tile applications, including floors, walls, countertops, and more.

Presentation #2 Course Title:Sound Control for Ceramic and Stone Tiled Floors - What You're Not Hearing
Course #2 Description:
Effective sound control is particularly relevant whenever there are multiple units in a building. Installing a tiled floor that meets minimum acceptable standards for sound control is a complex undertaking. There are many approaches and products available on the market and that may lead to confusion and undesirable results. This seminar serves to highlight the key factors that should be considered when installing a tiled floor where sound control is a consideration.

Learning Objectives:
1.Recognize two types of sound control ratings (Sound Transmission Class (STC) & Impact Insulation Class (IIC)) and understand their relevance to a flooring assembly.
2.Distinguish between an IIC rating and a delta IIC contribution.
3.Identify the components of a floor/ceiling assembly required for effective sound control.
4.List the characteristics of different sound control materials suitable for use underneath a tiled floor covering.
5.Recognize measures that must be taken to address real-world sound control challenges.
