Course Description:

This is Masonry 101, what to look for to avoid a bad looking job. But more importantly create a safe healthy and resilient project for your client. Everyone on the jobsite, from the mason contractor to the GC Supervision has eyes on the job. If something doesn’t look right stop that portion of the project and ask a question. We will discuss the important items an Architect should review during regular site inspections.

Learning Objectives:

Learning Objective1:
Participants will understand Masonry Best Practices for typical wall details/flashing and the importance of both insuring a safe and healthy structure.

Learning Objective2:
Participants will understand proper installation of insulation to maintain the integrity of the drainage cavity and its importance to a safe and healthy building.

Learning Objective3:
Participants will understand how to mitigate and manage masonry material differences when creating a safe resilient structure. i.e., CMU v clay and how they work against or with each other.

Learning Objective4:
Participants will understand Integral Water Repellant and its importance to safe and healthy projects. Also, how can you test for it in the field.
